Where to get ‘accessory’ fixture for centre console
« on: February 02, 2020, 11:09:07 »
Hi everyone
Does any know of anyone, hopefully in the UK/Europe, who my have, or reproduces the panel that sits in centre console and where the accessories were fitted, such as auxiliary fog lights?
I’ve done some searches but can’t find anything, whilst I admit perhaps I hadn’t used the right ‘phrase’!!!

Any thoughts?

Many thanks
Katie

I took a piece of aluminum sheet metal and did it myself, actually. Need some thin foam and a piece of upholstery material. What you can do differently is the distance between the switches by reviewing photographs to get the proportions right. On the picture you enclosed you see switches closer together than I have and what you have there is correct, I guess. I was thinking of a third switch when I did this, for DRL, but I ended up hooking them to rear window heater switch.

I am enclosing the picture of my car (Int).

You will need to shorten the carpet that goes on the bottom of the tray.

You also need to cut out a hole in the bottom of the tray if you do not have it.

I think any mechanic can do it.

Perhaps someone on this Forum has the exact dimensions. If not: you have information on the drawing "cut out 20x75mm long" and based on that you can determine other dimensions from the drawing. I would use flat headed screws (21 on your drawing, 17 on mine) as if they are too high, you see the raised carpet a bit. I am enclosing another drawing in English.

Fab, thank you, especially for instructions in English and dimensions!!! There’s a small metal fabrication place near me to maybe lazy and get them to make for me 😉

You would need to give them or measure the wooden tray for width. You need to allow a bit for upholstery material thickness on both sides. Best to give them a switch or measure the switch diameter.

Hi Katie,
a guy from German Pagodentreff has reproduced some of these mounting brackets: https://www.pagodentreff.de/diskussionsforum/threads/konsole-f%C3%BCr-schalter-nebelschlussleuchte.17797/.
You should ask him if he has some left.

I see that the distance between switches on the repro done by German colleague is closer to what I did rather than what we see in the picture from the brochure... I have the impression that what I saw on most of the pictures (various times, various sources) was the bigger distance between switches, like on the one from Pagodentreff.

Hi Pawel,
I think you are right that Walter's console (seen on the picture) has the wrong dimensions for the holes of the two switches but I can ask him for "his" sizes.
Attached the sizes of my original console.

Brilliant, thank you! So we have it now. It looks indeed like the proportions from the brochure.

Katie, so you have all the dimensions now thanks to WRe.

Also: if you have just one switch, on most pictures I saw one switch fitted on the side of the console, not in the middle (!). I would make two holes and fit the switch in one of them, the other hole will stay covered by upholstery.

Hi,
I've asked Walter for "his" dimensions: 66mm between the two holes which are in accordance to the switches he used and not to the original dimensions.

Thanks chaps, this is good stuff! I’m actually thinking of doing a bit of sacrilege and thinking of this for heated seats switches, so will probably go for the bigger gap between the two?  I’m presuming the ‘45’ telates to the depth!

Hi,
there are several possibilties, some hide those switches in the ashtray.
There is no accounting for taste.

If that is where you are going, you may also hide the switch under dash on drivers side and in the glove compartment on the passenger side.

Truth is on that shelf in the tray it would be the cute way.

Oooh, WRe, you have surpassed yourself!

I like the last picture of the switches in the ashtray, looks very professional

Do you by chance happen to have the link to the site where you obtained this image from?

Hi,
the link https://www.mechatronik.de/engineering is in the picture but no longer available.
The company is well known, e.g. for special suspensions: https://www.mechatronik.de/en/.
Attached a description for seat heatings.
