22mm on VTG
« on: February 02, 2020, 14:46:37 »
What is the tightening torque for the 22mm fitting that secures the VTG in the block?  I’m leery about getting this too tight and putting too much load on the al/bronze thrust piece.
Thank you,
Harry

Must be the Vertical timing gear.

Sorry - Cees is correct.  I see that acronym so much on the Forum that I just assumed it was commonly understood.  (I'll do better on subsequent posts.)  Upon closer inspection, the torque of the 22mm Fitting does not impart a load on the VTG.  The Fitting threads into the Thrust Piece which is secured to the block with a 10mm bolt.
