Injection pump solenoid

The stopping solenoid (lower one) on my 280SL is leaking oil from the end where the electrical connector is.  I'm looking for a good used one.  Does anyone have one or knows where I an purchase one?

I believe the lower fuel shut off solenoid can be removed and replaced with a blanking plate. Many have done this,
I spoke with Gus at Pacific Fuel Injection a few years ago, he said it okay to do this will not ill effects.

Mine leaked as well and I found a used replacement. It is longer than the starting solenoid. I would imagine you can remove it and install a blank. All it does is shut the fuel off during coasting to prevent popping in the exhaust. Strictly an emissions device and nothing more.

I had the same problems, I ordered restored one from Marty New York 631 589 1600 .

hello guys, I wanted to ask a question. Is there any advantage to have an injection pump with no solenoids? Why Bosch decided at same time to produce injection pumps like the r22 without solenoids? Are they more reliable ? thank you

My understanding is that improvements were made to the CSV on the later cars. That allowed them to eliminate the starting solenoid (smaller and on top). The lower positioned, longer solenoid was used for US emissions and so not everybody had that one. That solenoid shut the fuel flow when the engine was coasting to eliminate the popping sound in the exhaust from unburned fuel.

Not sure anymore reliable, but less moving parts.

I think the improvement came about with the ball type delivery valves.  They were far less prone to leaks and causing the fuel lines between the injection pump and cylinders to vapor lock.  Once they solved that issue the enrichment solenoid wasn't needed anymore.
