Water Pressure Temp Gauge Removal

Weill I successfully removed all my gauges  and sent them to palo alto speedo for repair.  after $600 they look great!
I did not however remove the temp gauge, because I cannot get the
nut off of the motor where the water assy exist the drivers side of the car.
should I just cut the cable and send it off then use a socket to remove from the block?
my concern is that I will get it back fully restored but still cannot get the nut out?
I have been soaking the nut in oil, maybe I need to get something else?

Matt,
Do not cut the cable. It is actually a capillary tube with gas inside. If you cut it, the gas escapes and the gauge will not work. Try a 14mm line wrench.

I suggest you remove the housing off the cylinder head (1 long bolt), then clean it out and soak it with penetrating oil from the inside.
You may have to hold the nut and turn the housing to keep the capillary from twisting up.
You want the capillary and nut/bulb out in one piece.

I need to follow up with palo alto speedo.  I think they told me that when the temp unit is rebuild they install a new cable etc.
if so, i guess i could cut the old one.
