Becker radio, radio parts or Literature
« on: February 09, 2020, 17:57:47 »
I am repairing Becker radios from 60's and 70's as a hobby. I am looking for :

- complete or incomplete radios like Europa, Grand Prix or Mexico(including with tubes) with no rust on them...
- amplifiers
- buttons, knobs or bezels
- Becker manuals or schematics
- Becker advertising materials

Send a picture/pictures and/or description. If you don't know what they are send  a picture and I will try to identify it.

What some of the shops now are doing is replacing the guts of the amplifiers with something more modern.  There is also a place that is replacing the radio guts with modern guts, the idea being to keep the front looking exactly the same but have nothing old inside.   Buttons, knobs, dial scales have become expensive.  Buttons and Knobs are the only parts I don't have an abundance of.  I have LOTS of radios, probably 30 - 40 in various states of repair.  One thing that would be really useful to learn to do is replace the belt (or motor?) on the Mexico cassette players and the Becker under dash cassette players.

My 2 cents.

You are talking heresy here ::) . You could be stoned in the market by the  purists.

Joke aside I think the idea here is that we love the craftsmanship. Replacing the internals of the Becker is like changing the engine in a Pagoda. You can do it, it will even run better but is not the same thing; the aficionados will penalize this.

I have seen several "improved" Pagodas sold at 50-70% of their original counterparts because the engine was swapped.

My pleasure is to restore these radios following the original schematics.

I just bought a radio faceplate from Type300.com
I think he has 20 or 30 faceplates for sale maybe you should email him.
Always like dealing with type300.com
He’s got so many parts at very fair prices.

Here’s his email address.
