Looking for vintage seatbelts like these
« on: February 16, 2020, 14:38:00 »
I am looking for new replacement vintage style seatbelts for both my 1966 230SL 4 speed and my 1963 220seb coupe.
Here is what came out of my 1963 220seb.
I realize the the Kango style ones are one way of doing it however I believe both cars are earlier than when the Kangos were available.
Please not the texture of the material. That's what I am looking for.
I have hunted online but can't find this type of texture.
Any leads would be helpful.
Best!
Peter

For what it matters, you are talking about Hickok seat belts.   Google that.

Doesn't it say "The Roberk Co Norwalk, Conn" on the latch? They must be U.S. made.

Peter, for reference sake here are the Hickok belts that came out of my '66.  The stitching is the same but the buckles are different.

Yes they do.
I am on the hunt for new replacements.
Specifically the type of material that these exhibit.
They have a nice vintage look to the material pattern.
I am on the look out as we speak.
Specifically green!

Ahh yes! My good man!
I am looking for minimally 2 to 4 sets of these in a green material for my 1963 220seb.
I think the hickok style is the way to go.
Kangol is later than 1963.
My car is green and I think green is good!

I just found this but it's only for 1 seat.
Maybe someone out there may have 1 more set.

Perry, your 220se with Reseda green interior would have originally come with grey beige set belts, (color code D 12) but if you're wanting green for you own personal touch I can respect that.  I was just passing along the information.

US cars before 1968 were mostly imported without seatbelts unless specifically ordered. They were installed at the dealer and as such there is no continuity in manufacturer and color. I have seen 2 cars within 100 digits vin with the same US lap belt manufacturer, both with black interior, but 1 had anthracite colored belts and the other had black. 68 and on were imported with Kangols standard.

That is great information and validates what I thought. My 1965 230SL has been in the family since 1980 and that car did not have any when my father initially bought the car.
I am still on the hunt to find another new old stock turquoise hickok seatbelt. They will work perfectly and will look I would say appropriate for this application.
