brand and color code MB Exhaust system
« on: February 18, 2020, 08:38:31 »
The original MB Exhaust system is dark grey, nearly black.

I wanted to check the make and color # with Gillet, till recent the producer of these exhausts, but they stopped their business on 26 Nov 2019.

Does someone know the brand and color code of this paint?

I am coating mine in black with ceracote, a high temp ceramic exhaust coating.  I figure it will turn a dark gray after a while anyways. About the same price as paint yet it’s totally different. Only application difference is heating up the exhaust before painting to out gas  it. I will be doing that with my gas’s grill.

Like John, mine is ceramic coated as well. I found the satin black color to be very close to a dark grey color and could be a happier with it. I went all the way with a stainless system and then fully welded the joints. I was lucky enough to find a shop that could ceramic coat that long of a length. I believe the ceramic coat bakes at a huger temp than does regular powder coating. As far as an exhaust system, I am set for life.

I use the same colour code as for the boot; 164.

The paint is heat resistant to +/- 800 – 1000 degrees C.
Can you let me know who was able to do this in the UK?
Thanks, Peter

Ceracote is good up to 1300 degrees.  You can go to there website and see if they have a service company in the UK.

I bought my first bottle when they had a training video online. They don’t have them anymore on line and want you to sign up for expensive training classes on all of their products.

The only thing the training video showed special is that you have to heat up the system before you paint to outgas the metal.  There is no heating required after you paint.  If you have an outdoor grill and a spray gun you can do it all yourself. Perhaps call customer service first to walk you through the process.  I called them regarding spraying it over stainless steel and they were very helpful.

My total do-it yourself cost will be about $80 US.
