Black grille removal?
« on: May 04, 2020, 11:28:49 »
Good day Gents, it’s time for me to remove and repaint the black grille between the radiator and the front chrome grille. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

The lower fastening screws hard to reach, w/o removing radiator
Put hockey tape on when assembling

Yea, the lower screws look impossible to take out without removing the radiator. I’m wondering if it’s worth it!

I am dumbfounded! My chrome grill frame including the black backing mesh comes out easily to the front of the vehicle. What is wrong with my car?

I was able to remove the both lower left/right screws without taking out the radiator when I did the job. It was extremely difficult and took a long time using all sorts "thinking outside the box tools".  We are talking 1/8th of a turn at a time stuff🤣

When it came to time to reinstall,  I could not get the lower left back in.  A couple of freinds had same experience and just left it out.  No issues.

I think it would be much easier to remove the chrome grille and star then paint the black grille in situ.
