What is the tan leather loop on the tunnel infront of the gearstick?

Unfortunately, the 230 SL in the Mercedes museum is a well-known "dog" of a car.
So the loop is some home-made addition put in by the previous owner...
Just like false wheel arch chrome, falsely mounted chrome strips at rear, wrong rear view mirror,
wrong gear shift knob and sawn-off gear lever and other details...  Car has a worn interior, too

Nice video., They needed to top up the brake fluid.

They need to CHANGE the brake fluid, it's black!  Kind of a grungy engine for a display car, could have detailed it a bit.  Surprised they left the wooden shift knob.

What I really don't understand is that a "professional" video has been made with VVS.  :o
Again something else.

They need to turn the phone/camera 90°.

That is why I mention VVS = Vertical Video Syndrome.  ;D

Thanks for calling out all the flaws, especially the horrible chrome around the wheelwells!  Despite all of its shortcomings, this car has been THE “reference” W113 in so many publications and articles over the years.  One would think DB would take more pride in its history!
