hood nut plates
« on: June 15, 2020, 17:01:16 »
Many of you are familiar with the fixing of the hood (bonnet) hinges.
I've repaired many of these hood nut plates in the past but have always had the original nut plates to work with.
I have a hood that someone else has butchered in the past and there's no trace left of the original fittings.
Does anyone have a scrap hood that they could cut these fitting out of and sell me?
(in future I'll make a drawing so I can make them from scratch!)
I've tried all the usual suppliers but without success.
Budsbenz have a kit that includes a hood frame that I do not require and I'm having difficulty getting them to sell me just the nut plates.

That's what I'm after but I read in another thread that he can no longer get them from his German supplier.

Ddin't somebody post on here recently that they'd just had an acident and that their car will need a new front end? That damaged hood could provide the nut plates.

Difficult to tell from that picture but if I was the repairer and the insurance were paying it would definitely have a new one. Does that car belong to a member here?

You might check with Gernold. I purchased a set from him about 3 weeks ago.
