late 280 under carpet insulation
« on: June 18, 2020, 01:40:11 »
Has anyone found a replacement for the foil backed fiberglass insulation under the carpet of the late 280SLs?

A lot of people in your position have used Dynamat or similar.
I have the original stuff (or what was put down in the 1990s during a PO resto) plus a house insulation: https://www.insulation-actis.com/multifoil-insulation/triso-super-10-plus.html
I had new carpets put in and at that time I gave them a roll of this stuff (I had knocking around) and they cut it, shaped it, seamed it and placed under the carpets. It's made a big difference to cabin temperatures and just lifts out if I need access.
Not original in the slightest!
