I am accepting offers above $7,350 for a running, rusty 1965 230 SL. It's 98% complete and has had the following work in the last 1,000 miles- new brakes, new exhaust (not M-B) system, new tires, new shocks, electric fuel pump, reconditioned fuel tank and reconditioned radiator. Hard top is currently on vehicle, dark colored soft top believed present, all chrome removed for painting prep but present except possibly one side strip piece and hood emblem. No A/C. Becker radio and clock present and power up, no radio antenna.
The car has been in my extended family since 1974 and in my possession since 2014. Unfortunately until 1980, when it went to Calif., it was used in IL and NJ, both states that salt their roads in the winter. Rust has taken hold, the frame rails and corners are pretty much gone and there are several holes in the driver's and passenger floor pans. The trunk and fenders appears to have only surface rust. The interior is complete but everything needs to be restored. Odometer reads 20,965 miles, unknown if correct. Clear Nevada title. Some spares, including two long style fuel pumps (one not working, one reconditioned), new car cover and manuals included.
The cars starts right up and drives but I don't consider it road worthy due to the compromised frame. For inspection I can have the car outside and running but no actual test drives please. Face masks and social distancing in effect. Vehicle is located near Las Vegas, NV USA.
I am offering this first to Pagoda Group members before it goes on eBay or Hemmings. Health and lack of time preclude me parting it.
Best offer above $7,350. Local pickup is fine and I will work with your shipper.
