Wiper motor installation Question

I am restoring my 250SL and while cleaning the wiper motor for installation I noticed what appeared to
be a caulk material on the bottom of the base where it attaches to the body. It was only at each of the 3
bolt holes and apparently to prevent water from getting in. Was this something the factory did or the result
previous maintenance? Appreciate any insight , thanks.

That was a flexible sealant done at the factory. I only say that because I have it on my wiper motor also.

Interestingly my 250 SL was light beige now anthracite gray metallic.

Just to make sure - you know that there are 3 rubber seal rings around the bolts (A 201 987 02 41) and the isolating pad A 110 824 01 97.

I understand what you talk about is an additional seal.

I wondered if rubber washers were used. Mine were missing after many years of being apart. The isolation
pad is attached to the base of the motor. Thanks for the part numbers.
