Humira Commercial
« on: August 02, 2020, 16:38:02 »
Don't kill me for bringing up a TV commercial. But in a Humira commercial currently running, I think I have caught a glimpse of a Pagoda. There are several clips of pretend users of the med and one scene shows a guy traveling Rte 66. He is squatting in the middle of the street over a painted sign of the highway on the asphalt and you can see his car parked on the shoulder further down the road. It is a red convertible and sure looks like a Pagoda. I have not been able to find anything on the net which I could download and halt to get a closer look.

...in a Humira commercial currently running...

There's a game I play with all these big pharma drug commercials on television. As soon as they bring their smiling faces on (nobody in the commercials actually suffers any of the diseases they are talking about) I grab my phone, bring up the app GoodRx, and look up just how expensive that drug is.

I think the record was something like $27,000 per dose. Don't remember the drug however.

Trust me, they don't advertise generic low cost drugs--only the expensive ones. So the game is: how expensive is it?

Today, Humira in NC: 2 pens, 1 carton, 40 mg. list price $8,588.00. Lowest price: Costco pharmacy $5,490.00

I know, it is ridiculous. We have a guy in our Saturday breakfast group who is on "Enbrel" - the "Phil Mickelson" arthritis medication. He says it costs him 5k a month.
Then again, you think that a guy who can afford a Pagoda has enough money for Humira....

He must consider the relief provided worth the expenditure. Where might he be without the drug?

In many cases it is not a matter of "relief" as in "comfortable" but a matter of being able to "function" and doing your job.

Then you'd really like the price here in Ontario.  If you qualify it's quite reasonable.

The comment about being able to function and do your job is significant.

I was toying with the idea of selling my car and getting something newer with an automatic to help the back/leg pain I experience when driving my pagoda, but after driving newer cars with electric seat controls I realized that the pain is still there and nothing makes it better other than driving my truck (marginally).    Then Saturday morning right after my last treatment I took the Pagoda and a daughter out for a spirited drive up the local mountain and realized that I love my car too much to sell.  I had 45 minutes of pain free driving and when the freezing wore off I only had 15 minutes of marginal pain to get back home.   So I know we are on the right track.  The car seems so much better when there is no pain.

I have a friend with a similar problem and he is paying $5k per month just to function.

I thought the car looked like it had a complete bumper, not the short ones of the Pagoda...  It flashed on the screen so quickly...

I think Brad is correct. Long bumper. I finally found it

...then again. Still not sure. I I stop the video at 25/26 seconds into the skid and go to "full screen", it sure looks like a 2-seater...

I'm looking at it now full screen. It is a larger car and may not even be a Mercedes.  It definitely has a long bumper.  It just doesn't look like a Pagoda to me.

There would be over riders on the bumpers if it were a W111.  But if the over riders are missing then it is an early one since there is no rubber strip in the bumper.  I don't see chrome across the tail along the base of the trunk lid or any emblems on the trunk lid.

Definitely not a Pagoda.  It has a full car width chrome bumper.  Looks like a larger cabrio of some type????

Well, thankfully here in the UK we have our wonderful National Health System, without which I wouldn't be able to afford the Humira I take once a fortnight and many of you wouldn't have your cars fixed! (By me at any rate!)It's genuinely life-changing medicine.

So are you on the free prescriptions or is it ~£10 a time?  ;)

Saw the ad myself and hit the pause button to snap with my phone.
It is a Pagode 280SL( I believe with the headrests).
Think it has the euro trim under the tag that makes it look like a continuous bumper.
