Window play

Hello guys, I searched on the forum but I found only very old post.
I have same lateral play on my door windows, especially when they are raised fully. Is this the part that has be bought in order to fix the problem?

There is a whole process to address this.
It may be caused by 2 2 jaw assemblies that are normally secured at the bottom of the glass from coming loose on the windows.
Do not take the guide tracks out when taking the window out. It will create many more hours of labor to get your windows correct.
Maybe someone has written an overview of the process.
My 65 Light Ivory needs such a service again after my 15 years of use.
I just did the windows on my 66 Havana Brown 230SL and all jaws had come off.
Once the windows were taken out I used shop rag material to replace the original felt and scuffed the window area with sandpaper in the area that the jaw resides and used 2 part epoxy gorilla glue to secure jaws back on.
The windows fit perfectly.
Best to do it with the hardtop on.

Hi Mauro,
The felt type strips on the top of the doors are probably not your problem, however I would replace them as well.
The doors have adjustable guides front and back, which should be OK, meaning they most probably would not need adjustment. Marked in green.
The red ones are adjustable aluminium slides which is attached to the glass and the blue ones are nylon slide fittings.
Make sure you have these parts in the doors and in position. You would probably only need a set of the nylon slides. The aluminium ones do not ware out, but they might be missing.
I bought my 250Sl after a very bad 8 year restoration. When I opened the doors in order to adjust the side windows, I found most of the red and blue slides were missing.

So basically if I decide to buy the repair kit that is on sale on sls I should fix the problem right? I only need to remove the panels ( most complicated thing)

Those rubber strips goon each side of the glass to insulate the glass from the window lifts. You should also have rubber sleeves or grommets that line the holes in the glass. You don't want any metal touching the glass or it could shatter.

We often remove the channel rails where the glass slides up and down. You need a clean smooth surface for the aluminum jaws to slide on and they're often anything but smooth or clean. You will need to remove the bristle rails to remove the glass. We use a bolt cutter to trim the new bristle rail so it leaves a nice finished surface.

It's probably best if you take everything apart, clean everything, and then inspect. Order what you need after that. Ordering before you know what you need means you might end up with parts you don't need and then not have parts that you will need.
