Cockpit Cover
« on: August 15, 2020, 18:39:36 »
Do we have a proven source of cockpit cover in Europe?

All kinds of offers from the US I found, some from Canada, more scarce in Europe, I would expect the UK...

Do you mean a Tonneau cover as fitted to old British sports cars
I have one ,it is fitted by studs on the hatch and dash.

I had 2 Tourneau covers and gave one to Tom in VA . At the Blacklick meet I purchased one and I won one .
So I gave one to tom at Blacklick. Last time I talked to him in VA he did not remember me giving him one.
It does look good on the car.

I would also love to get a tonneau cover. They do look great, especially if you have no headrests, just one smooth plane.
How do they attach? Must you drill to add snap- on hardware like on a W111 cabriolet soft top covers ? Magnetic ?
Good time saver too vs soft top lowering.
I would use it all summer in the garage. Are they waterproof ? Somehow I can envision rain getting in and I can't envision how it would attach on the dash board.
I see that Prestige Auto Trim, the British firm  shows a tonneau in their adv in Classic & Sports Car mag.  Pawell try their, maybe?

Just to eliminate issues related to my poor English. I am enclosing picture of what I am after from Europe.

Again - when you buy ans ship from the US an item that is $100, you end up in $200 finally.

I have one...

They shipped from California and it was $80 plus shipping
https://www.calcarcover.com/product/stormweave-custom-fit-car-interior-convertible-cockpit-covers/751

Find an SL from ‘63-70 on the menus and it’ll fit...
Cost was $153 so not the cheapest...
ClassicAdditions do a non”custom” one... https://www.classicadditions.com/en-GB/outdoor-car-covers/waterproof-outdoor-half-car-cover/prod_10074

Paul & Dolly - it looks very nice, but I would prefer to avoid the studs...

JamesL - thank you for the California connection - I think I looked there, good to know more exactly what to look for. I will follow the UK link, we will see what is there.

WRe - Wolfgang again! I will check it, thank you.

Thanks for the replies!

The SL Shop in UK used to sell a soft/hard top half cover for the R107, maybe also suitable for a Pagode ?

I have just sent a radio to them for overhaul - I will ask.

By the way: Wolfgang has no more of them...

I’m teasing you!
Good find and far cheaper than the route I took.
I’ve long used their covers and been happy with them

I looked at the pictures above and these are not tourneau covers.
My cover covers only the passenger seat and you can still drive the car.
AS I stated somewhere contact Joe JA17 and ask him about the covers that were at the 2005 Blacklick event.
He might remember where they came from.

I also seem to remember the R107 cover that was available from Mercedes at one point also fit.

I had one like the one in Pawel's photo.  It does not fit a California Coupe, so I donated it to the PUB raffle which, I think, is were Tom won the second one.  Because of the back seat, the coupe passenger compartment is too long for the cockpit cover to reach.
