Battery .. What are the Ah and A for 1966 230 Sl
« on: September 16, 2020, 13:41:20 »
Hi ,

I'm zero mechanical and looking to buy a new battery for my 230SL....and currently very confused:
My car currently has a 12v 74Ah 680 A (EN ) specs.
A manual I have refers to 12v and 55Ah
Another w113 I saw had 62A 480 (E)  or 440A (SAE/GS) in a MB branded battery
Pelican parts show 70Ah and 630a for our w113

What should be the specs in AHours and A for my car .

Not concerned about originality or vintage look ... Just the right battery specs.

Thanks
Pedro

Hi,
the capacity (Ah = amp hours) or the cold discharge test current (A = maximum current in amps that a battery can hold at zero degrees Celsius for 30 seconds) are not so important but the right size which can vary a little bit: 260mm x 180mm x 222mm (LxWxH).
Just search for "Battery Finder" in the Internet.
Example:
- Varta: https://www.varta-automotive.de/de-de/battery-finder?number_plate_1=0009&number_plate_2=334&find=find
