Chain tensioner ball bearing

Is there suppose to be a tiny ball bearing on the end of the chain tensioner, and if so where can I get one since one didn't come out on tear down?

I know about the ball, but not ball bearing...
Ball: N 005401 305000, available at MB dealers.

175 on the picture.

There are also a couple of bushings.

Unfortunately that part number has been reassigned to a part in a transmission, but the MB parts Dept. found the right P/N and it is in stock for $360 plus tax and shipping. I just went online to Amazon and found a box of assorted steel balls for $16 which by looks of it the right size is in that box.

Something seems wrong.  Yes Mercedes can be expensive at times but this does not make sense.  I see the part available for less than $2  from any Mercedes dealer.

That is exactly what I saw. Something went wrong. Push on the dealer, they are not great in these old cars. The green dot in the picture means the part is available within 24h. Costs about $1 with VAT.

Otherwise, if you can measure the correct ball size, you can buy 100 for less than $8.00 US ($ 0.07 each)!

Thanks, but I don't have the ball. When I removed the tensioner it wasn't there. Hoping that I can get a close match since it will be going inside the slide I figure that it will not be a big deal.

The dealers messed something up. You can also call Tom in Classic Center - he helped even me, form Europe.

You dropped the ball down the chain galley? uups...

I would buy and measure it for you, but I could pick it up next Friday....

Joe has the way to go. I dropped the ball from the tensioner on the garage floor and before I finally found it again, I went to McMaster Carr , 20 miles from my house and bought a bag of 100.
I am willing to part with a few that I do not need if you are still in a pickle.

Make sure the ball is not still inside the housing. It sits in a pocket of the plastic end piece which may be still lodged inside the tensioner housing.

Got it! found in my ultrasonic cleaner. I was fishing parts out with a magnet and noticed this small ball next to the tensioner spring and other metal parts. Thanks to all for their inputs and advice.

Sorry about all of the fuss. Never saw the ball when I removed the tensioner unit and figured that it was never there when I started to reinstall it.
