However, having watched a programme many years ago, about language, it appears that English constantly morphs, taking in new words from different cultures. Indeed there are many French words in the English language (maybe due to William the Conqueror?) and some German, plus Nordic etc! This is why, the programme explained, why English remains the ‘international’ language. Not just purely due to our history of invading countries in the years past.
Who would have thought that my simple request to acquire a wooden handled MB screwdriver would result in a discussion about language and what appears to be comparisons on whose language is better than others! After all, how can an inanimate object be male or female, or why have separate words when one can just push them all together to form one word? 😁
I think we should just value the loveliness of diversity across our fabulous planet, and our individual uniqueness
