Perforation Pattern on Leather Seats
« on: January 13, 2021, 19:03:41 »
Did all leather seats have the same perforation pattern? I believe I remember a question at the last Blacklick session about the correct pattern for a given year. Heritage has my interior now and I want to make sure the seats come back with the correct pattern for my 68 280sl. Tony has a lot of experience but is not an expert on all of the details.

thanks gents

Thanks Alfred. I remembered this post about her pleats but forgot or didn’t see where it talked about the seat insert pattern.

I did tell heritage about the pleats. I need to remind them again as they work on the seats  now.

John

I will send pics when I get it all back.

Has anyone ever photographed in detail some of these "unicorn" original fit and finishes? Such as leather emboss pattern? Is there a certainty it didn't change?

I have a GAHH interior done in 1999. I remember many years ago, fresh out of restoration, when a member here from South Africa here dismissed my car because the leather interior's dimple/emboss pattern "wasn't right"...

While my car still looks much the same (if not better) as it did 20 years ago, back then there were a lot less restored W113s, and a lot more needing well, a lot. I remember the triage line Joe A set up to just get people home from Ohio in 2003. Now, ask me if I cared then or now about the emboss pattern...

I have seen leather seat covers being sold on ebay. Does anybody have any experience with these?

Yes John...,
They have. All the leather seats of our Pagodas and teh other Mercedes passenger cars of the same age always had the same basket weave perforation pattern.

Alfred's link says it all ....  :D
Please proceed as Aaron strongly recommended to you. There's not much left to say about.

Good luck
