Instructions on removing Clock
« on: May 14, 2003, 17:20:33 »
I have a 1969 280 SL that I would like to send the clock for repair.

Can someone give me directions on removing the clock?

Thanks,
Phil

To remove clock:
Take out glove box: open glove box door, unscrew three (?) screws on top and on bottom of box. Ease out box part way. Careful of spring etc on left side. As box comes out, look for glove light wire. When clear, reach in and unscrew the two screws holding the light wires to the connection post then take the box all the way out.

Clock: reach in behind clock for the knurled nut, should be hand tight. Remove nut keeping one hand on clock. When the nut is off, the holding bracket will come off. As the the clock comes out, disconnect the clock power wire from the back of the clock.

Installation is reverse. When putting glove box back be sure to have door open and watch out for the spring etc on drvr side.
