A friend of mine is looking for a  560 sl R107 ...... (nobody is perfect i know...!) and asked me if i was informed about specific points to look closely at ...?

- rust, rust, rust: front panel, fender, headlight pots, lower edge of the door, rear wheel arches, spare wheel tub
- chassis and suspension: bearings and rubber bushings, flex disc, shock absorbers
- hand brake
- dashboard: vaccuum controller, cracks
- console: cracks
- fabric seats

In addition to the specific items already mentioned, have a look at the benzworld.org site. There is a dedicated 107 forum there (R/C 107 SL/SLC Class).  I have found it very useful for sorting problems on my 560 SL.  Read through the Encyclopaedia Germanica Volume 107 (aka EGv107) for a lot of good information.
