White wall tires

I want to install ww tires on my 69 280SE coupe 195 70 14 .It seems only Coker has the expensive ones?

I put Hankooks on my Pagoda and they handle and look ok. I was not crazy about how the whitewalls yellowed very quickly. The Tire place called them and basically got a non-answer. I have tried bleach, Mr. Clean, etc but they are simply not very white. Then, the other day I met a guy who installed the Cokers on his Sedan. I like the look. Wider and whiter.

I also have Hankooks  WW. Had same problem with the yellowing, tried all the same cleaners you tried. I used 303 Tire & Rubber cleaner and was surprised that it also cleaned the White Walls, then I sprayed the 303 Exterior & Interior Protective on the tires and they kept them clean for many months.

I read in a post a couple of years ago that lacquer thinner worked well to clean yellowing white walls. I had the same problem with Tiger Paws tires and the lacquer worked well. Still don't like the tires! Chumps

I have heard that Maxxis makes a pretty good WW in a very close size. I am going to use those very soon. I have had the Phoenix Coker's for 10 years and not that happy with them considering the cost. The best WW tires I have run across are from Diamond back. They can install a WW on most any tire and stays looking white. Not cheap though. I have the 13" super wide WW on my 220SE Ponton.

After 3 years my Handkook WW’s are still white. They don’t see much sun. I use the Magic Erasers and I just tried baking soda with the rough side of a kitchen sponge. Worked well👍  YMMV

My Maxxis white walls are just over four years old now.  White as ever!  A general purpose household cleaner (409 here in the USA), elbow grease and steel wool keep them white.

I have wanted to try these, as I got Verdesteins for the vintage look, and they do not have a white wall. Thought I was going to get to it last winter, but other more pressing projects prevailed.

Well, thanks for the cleaning tips. I had previously tried the Magic eraser, blech-white, straight bleach, baking soda, and none removed the "yellowing" parts of the ring. It was not all yellow -- just like a bleed from behind in a few areas?

Anyway, inspired by the suggestions, I went to buy 303. Local places don't carry it (they had few other 303 products though)...

So then I considered Lacquer thinner but had none laying around. However, I did find a little can of Goo-Gone. Generally good for lots of small clean-up situations. Struck me as similar to LT so I tried it. Worked pretty good!! Maybe ever-so-slightly off-white in the worse parts but overall the white walls gleamed. I topped it with some tire dressing to moisturize it some.

I've been told not to use Bleeches White. Ruins your tires.

Doug, I have Phoenix 184X14 WW on my 111 Coupe; they have yellowed, and I’ve tried most of the above cleaners and nothing seems to work that well!    Frustrating, as these tires have less than 1000 miles and the don’t shine through!  LLLL

I had same problem with the Phoenix as well from day one. Dingy WW.
