Bleeding the Clutch
« on: April 29, 2005, 06:30:29 »
Hello Group,
I just replaced my clutch master cylinder after I noticed drops of brake fluid on my shoe each time I pressed in on the clutch. Last night I tried to bleed the clutch using the technique of attaching a hose from the front left brake bleeder to the clutch slave cylinder. Both bleeders were open, but the fluid would not pump into the clutch slave. Instead, eventually the hose would pop off and the fluid leaked all over the garage floor.
Prior to removing the master cylinder, I had drained the fluid using the bleeder in the slave cylinder, so I don’t think that the system is clogged in any way. What am I doing wrong?

Chuck,

is there any chance the master cylinder operating piston is not fully retracted?  If it's slightly "applied", the piston will block the fluid supply hole and prevent reverse bleeding.

Thanks George,
That could be my problem. Maybe I should check the adjustment of the clutch pedal with the new master cylinder.
