Floor Mat Suggestions Wanted
« on: June 23, 2021, 21:17:32 »
I have bamboo interior and original carpet/mats but I think it is time to replace my floor mats...

My dash is 571 RED Metallic so I would like to get something that goes with that?

Any suggestions?  Images?

Thank you!

I heartily second the comment about cocomats.  Excellent service and a great choice of colors. I have black with red dots in my 280 SL which is DB904 exterior and red leather. I have black with grey dots in my 250 SL which is red with black leather.

The mats look good, wear like iron and fit like a glove.

Do you think the red mats would look good with my interior?

Back when I lived in Germany as a younger man, the tastes were a tad different. Even in the 80s, red interior was frowned upon. It was considered a "pimp car" color scheme.
General Motors (who I worked for) had a hard time understanding why their - popular in the U.S. - Maroon cars with red cloth interior did not sell there.

Steven, with the darker interior, I don't think the red would work as well as with the lighter interior shown. Take a look at the Coco Mats website and you can see the different combinations. There are also a number of different types of mats. So far the folks on this thread have been talking about the "Coco" mats. There is a "Natural" mat that might look really nice with the Cognac. Attached is a screen shot of the Natural.

You might want to get a few of the actual samples of the colors (rather than rely on the computer monitor) to get a better understanding of how the colors might (or might not) work with your car.

I would suggest going on the cocomats website and requesting a few sample swatches. They are $1/piece and you can experiment with coco or sisal mats and see what works best.

I don't think the mats I chose will suit your interior, however they do another version, 'Red and Natural', which might be a better fit (I ordered that particular swatch and it didn't match well with my car). I've attached the photo for your ref. The 'natural' fleck in the carpet is closer to your interior colour than it is mine.

Hope that helpa

I just ordered some coco mats for my w111 coupe.

I ve had a set of the coco sisal for my 911 for years and they look great.

I agree with ordering a few sample swatches so you can be sure of the color as the mats are not inexpensive ( but in my opinion worth it)

I have a grey interior and bought the solid grey cocomats.  They seem a little more "upscale" than the traditional type.  I also bought a mat for the cargo area behind the seats, but the fit was not perfect -- it was a little long (front to rear) and was too tight against my seat belts (that were anchored below the cargo area covers).  I wrote to Coco mats and they immediately sent me a paper template and asked me to trim it to fit.  I sent them back the existing mat with the template, they retrimmed it and sent it back to me.  Very impressive customer service!
