I had some time today so I prepared a PDF file on how to find Members in the area were one lives using this Pagoda SL Group site sortable dataBase under the Main Menu "Members"

Most of the long time Members of this site are very familiar with this, however, New Members may not be that faniliar and I like to give them a helping hand. The PDF file I am attaching (see below) provides a bit more insight for New Members to accomplish this fun task of finding other members in the area to get together with and have a Car & Coffee get together or even plan a short road trip or join already existing Pagoda Members that meet for coffee.

I spend quite a few hours putting this together. Has anyone used this? Anyone finds it helpful? A little feed back would be apprichiated.

Find it all to complex? well let me asure you it's not, see how many members you can find in your Province, State or other parts of this ever shrinking world due to the Internet. You be surprised. :)

Say something, take your dark glasses off why dont you :) ??? :) :) :)

Hi Dave, my car is blue and the first one in the lower left hand photo. The next car is Hugh our North American Membership Director on the bord. Last is Peter (Pj) a retired Professor. We are all from London ON. Attached is a picture that some one took of us in Germany in the Hotel we stood during our Mosel Trip. I am in the left of the attached photo as we enjoyed a few nice Mosel wines :) I was a passengier in a nice Pagoda during the tour of the Mosel River with a Member from my former home town in Germany. Do you know Garry Marks? Have you meet him and his wife Kate? He lives near Melbourne Australia. A few years back Garry and his wife Kate came to North America with there nice Pagoda. You proberly will meet him or chat with him some day if you not already have.

Stay Safe!

That's a great photo! Prost!
I haven't met Garry personally, we live on opposite sides of the country. I've met local member Marty. And Jonny B visited Perth too.

And I met Steven Ahern once - I happened to be riding by on my bike while he was filling up.
Steven sold his 230SL so he probably doesn't visit this site much but he and Jon B still keep in touch with me which I really appreciate!
So yeah I think it is a great idea that you're encouraging local in-person meetups.

I do Dave, after all it is not only about cars, it’s also about people and you meet the nicest people on this site. Last night I had a call from a member that planned to be part of our road trip next week, unfortunately he had to cancel, the health of his wife declined and he cannot leave her. We talked over one hour about cars and other stuff.

Stay safe

Dieter,

Not sure if I am missing something on how to use the new feature to search for Pagoda owners to start a Cars & Coffee event. When I search for owners in Pennsylvania, zero members came up. Has to be members in Pa. Then tried Florida. Zero. Tried California, am sure lots of members should pop up and only saw two names.

Am I doing something wrong. Have 3 boxes checked, location and the other two boxes that self populate?

I am not a search wizard but what I would do if I were you is simply go to the members list (select "view the members list" option at the "members" tab on top of each forum page) and then sort on location. Your Pennsylvania members start on page 53 and continue to the top of page 55, more than 50 members registered in PA. Florida members start on page 39 and go through top of page 42 (at I think 50 members per page, that's over 100 Florida based members).

Sadly, Dieter who started this topic, passed away some time ago.

Has to be members in Pa. Then tried Florida. Zero. Tried California, am sure lots of members should pop up and only saw two names.

Here's what you do, exactly:

1. Go to Members section on top bar. It's between My Messages and Logout.
2. Hover your cursor over Members, and click the Seach for Members.
3. Unclick everything, and then click Location box.
4. In the search box, type in "USA, PA" or USA, FL" or any two letter state abbreviation after "USA, --"
5. Hit the return key.

Now, I just did this moments ago, using USA, PA and came up with 55 members across two pages. Now depending on what you want to do, you can quickly look at the profiles and find inactive members, associate (free) members, members who have made no posts, and members who have made many posts. All that information is there. So is a way to contact them individually by PM (private message) by clicking the envelope icon.

If you are trying to organize a GTG in a specific area (say Philadelphia or Pittsburgh, or in the case of Florida, Miami or Naples or whatever) you have to know a bit of the geography to determine where in the state each town/city is. I know Pittsburgh is in Western PA. I also know that Murraysville is in Western PA, as is Zelienople. I would have to look up to see that Wyncote is near Philadelphia in Eastern PA. So you ferret out those within a certain radius, and then contact them either through PM, or make a mail list using their email addresses.

As one who has done this multiple times for our events, I can tell you however, that many have provided email addresses that are not in frequent use. But most are.

GTG events are a great way to meet and greet other Pagoda owners. There's nothing that compares to getting a bunch of owners and cars together to compare notes and enjoy some fun together.
