W108 280SE 3.5 combination indicator switch problem
« on: August 14, 2021, 07:39:14 »
Hi, When indicating left, the indicator switch lever engages correctly but I have to gently hold it slightly futher down to get the electrical contact to engage. In the past I have had a problem with a 280SL combination/indicator switch not mechanically engaging and have repaired this successfully. However on removing the 280SE switch, it is quite different than the 280SL, it looks like it is a "sealed unit" and I am reluctant to try to open it up. Any ideas on how I can get it to electrically engage correctly please?

My W111 doesn’t hold when turning right. I just assumed that this as a similar switch to the SL one and that it could be fixed. I have been holding off doing this and know I am very curious to see if it can be done as well.

Is the switch the same for all W111/108?

Hi Wallace, I don't know if they are the same. As I say, my switch engages mechanically ok, but I have to push it slightly further to get the electrical contact to meet
