Hyde Park?  I was astonished by the number of Aston-Martins in London, they were almost commonplace, but didn't see these!

I thought Richmond Park but don't see any deer.
Yesterday evening there were about a million around - new born with spots and racing stripes.

Purely out of Hubris (or is it Huberis), I'll venture the lovely St. James Park.

James and George share a spotters badge

Although with royal names like that you'd expect nothing less. The park in the background is the one between St James and Hyde. Green Park

Is that Spencer House in the background?  Princess Di should have been driving that car!

They were taken at the top of The Mall

So Clarence House & St James' Palace would be off to the right (forwards) and Buckingham Palace off to the left (backwards)

I was on my bicycle!

the first car is a DBR1 (Le Mans 59 winner); one of 5 built. It could possibly be a DBR2 (somewhat enlarged chassis and Lagonda engine), although I do not think so. The second car is the new DBR9; winner at Sebring in March (#57, not this particular car). The DBR1s regularly appear in vintage races. The colors are off in the pics (too greenish without showing the metallic appearance). Aston Martin Racing Green occured in about 5 different shades. The new DB9 Volante and the Aston V8 will arrive soon. The company is on a roll.

Astons are hardly common anywhere given their low production volume and cost (to buy and maintain). The DB7 Vantage is a fabulous car; Ferrari buffs can keep their 550/575 Maranellos. I would not want to drive a 6spd manual DB7 in central London traffic (auto or Vanquish: OK); I lived there and I know.

Want to know about Astons in the US; go to Autosport Design on Long Island and see Tommy Papadopolous http://www.autosportdesigns.com/. Or Ferrairs, Porsches, or MB300SLs.

Been there; done that.

They're OK, if you like Fords ;)

They are getting lots of good press over here and rightly so. If you thought the DB7 was a good looking car, the DB9 is spectacular

Well, we must remember that a Ferrari is a Fiat. Given the choice between a Fiat or a Ford, which would you take? When did Daimler-Chrysler last build a real Mercedes for that matter, mid-90s I would say, although many 113 lovers might end it there.

There is certainly some Ford in a DB7, although much that is pure Aston. The engine is mainly Cosworth, although now being built in a dedicated Aston German plant (part of the Ford complex). Many DB7s were painted by Rolls Royce, pending a new paint shop.

The DB9 Volante is prettier than the DB7 Volante; not so the coupe in my (and other) opinions. Too much Vanquish influence from the now-gone Dane, what's his name; the DB7 is a Cullum car.

Gee, these cars are fun. I love my 280SL too and I could comfortably drive it in central London.

Tosh,
You ever get north of Watford Gap on your bike? [:p]
Only Kidding

They are a pretty car the Astons, remember they are still based on the 30 year old Jaguar XJS floorpan.......
Shame I could never afford the insurance

As to the Ford Fiat debate I think I would go with Fiat, most of them have some character rather than none. I drove a new Ford Focus
(rental), very good, competent, handed well, and about as interesting as watching paint dry
