64 230 SL

Just acquired a 1964 230 SL and am new to the forum. I have a couple of issues that I need help with or be pointed in the right direction.
Previous owner had the car for 50 years and it shows 75000 miles not documented but I believe correct. Car has some issues, needs a new top, hard starting when cold  -- starts like a carbureted car would with choke stuck open. Drivers door window (manual) doesn't operate, took the door panel off, looks like someone was there before me so I'm looking for a picture of what the regulator etc looks like, I believe some parts may be missing. Any suggestions on a shop manual? I tried searching the Forum, couldn't find anything, probably wasn't searching or  looking in the right place. Rear of car also leans to left, springs look okay shocks are old but appear to be okay, any ideas?
These topic probable should have been posted separately under different headings, please correct me if I'm doing something wrong.

Congratulations on your Pagoda!
The strongest first recommendation is to join the Pagoda SL Group as a full member - it will be the best $30 investment you can make in your car. With membership you get access to the Tech Manual, where you'll find everything you need to know about your car. What isn't there, or any specific questions, are readily answered by experts who are on this Forum.

Welcome Jim.

Shop manual: Haynes manual, has a lot of good information.
There's a ton of information right in the forums, so experimenting a bit with the search function should get you very far along with your issues, and most things you will be running into over time as you sort out the car.
The tech manual has of course good additional information.
The full membership $30 helps pay the bills (no ads anywhere you may have noticed) so pitching in is always appreciated.
Car tilting to one side could be a worn spring but definitely get to the bottom of that one, it's not supposed to be like that. Shocks normally don't cause this, they only dampen the movement, and don't control the height, normally speaking.
I lived for a couple of years in Turtle Creek, Tequesta, very enjoyable. The bicycle ride all along Jupiter Island was the best.

Also, I will add my voice to the others about joining as a full member. Just one small save from the technical manual will more than cover the $30 fee.

You will also get access to the Pagoda Notes (newsletter) past issues. In Volume 9 No 2 is a description of the main search function, followed by on update of the search in Volume 13 No 2.

The main search is the one in the string of items at the left of the page, near the top beginning with "Home" - that search is for the entire forum. The search at the top right will only search the forum topics you are currently on, General Discussion, etc.

Good luck with the car, you are in the right place.

You will not find a better group of people anywhere, period. Access to the full membership materials ($30) will be indispensable as you work out the bugs in your new car. And anything you can't find in the Tech Manual or searching the archives, another member has experienced and will be happy to weigh in on.

There is no way that I would be almost completing the mechanical restoration of my 280SL without these incredible resources.

For your tilting issue — one possibility — check the seats that the springs sit on — there is a rubber piece that rests in the seat and the spring rests on the rubber.  This rubber may be wrong dimension on one side or missing.
