I have been noticing that my 1967 230SL WRD is not functioning properly. So, I took it out of the car and found out that the plunger and the spring are detached from each other. I tried to re-assemble them using the original C clip that goes on the top of the plunger. It held up at first, with some lubrication, it stayed together. However, after testing the plunger off the car, the C clip slipped off, and everything fell apart. My questions are:
1. Is any other method of C-clip to use to keep the spring and the plunger together?
2. Is the conventional C-clip works?
3. Is the OEM C-clip available for purchase?
4. I would appreciate any assistance to solve this problem.
