Hi guys I am new here. I am in the process of restoring my Pagoda. I am contemplating which colour to pick.
Any suggestions, photos of your cars? I quite like anthracite grey. Do you have any natural photos of your cars with the above colour?
Would you do black hard top with it? Please help:))

Colour and colour combination is very personal, what one person likes doesn't suit others

If you use the search button above, and search anthracite, you should get some pictures come up, you can also search photo gallery from the home page, lots of pictures of members cars and others
or just Google Mercedes W113 Pagoda anthracite and see what that throws up

I was going to paint my W111 Anthracite Grey, but went with 332 Navy instead. Here are 3 photos of the samples my paint shop did for me. The shape of the model lets you really see how light and shadow will effect the overall look. Whatever colour you end up with, make sure that you see contoured samples in natural and artificial light.

Besides my 250 and 280SL's I have a few 81 to 85 3ooSD's.
As I recall Mercedes for one year only painted 300SD' in antricite.
It is a beautiful Color and if I was to paint any of my Mercedes cars , I would use Antricite.
I do not know if I am spelling it correcfly.
Keep the car all one color.

There are 2 Anthracite Gray colors. Solid and metallic. I preferred the metallic. Hemmels is using this color on several of their restorations.

This past week I saw a metallic anthracite gray 280SL at my mechanic’s shop. It had a bamboo interior. It looked absolutely breathtaking. Very dramatic with that interior. Although the one I saw was a solid color, a black hardtop could look really interesting.

Another member, johnk, is finishing up a restoration. I think his color combination of metallic grey-beige with a parchment interior is particularly good looking. The overall look is refined, sophisticated and very elegant.

Honestly though from white to black and everything in between, you cannot go wrong if you stick with a genuine D-B color of the period. These are simply gorgeous cars.

My 280 came from the factory in anthracite gray metallic (DB 172) with light gray MB tex interior. It is an understated but attractive combination more often found in MB sedans. I think DB 172 with cognac or burgundy interior might look very interesting!

am also thinking of nature leather colour inside (its like kind of between orange and yellow).

Keep in mind if changing the paint color requires you to also change the interior color you will have to deal with the material on the bottom rear of the hard top. Replacing that requires removal of the windows and you might as well replace the headliner at that point. you can avoid all of that by just having the material In the back died to match your new interior.
