Air Car Dryer Blower Recommendations
« on: March 08, 2022, 06:16:14 »
Hi All,

I'm tired of seeing the swirl marks on my cars and hand drying my cars.  I'm considering pulling the trigger on an air car dryer blower to dry the exterior and blow out the interior and crevices.

Can any members recommend good makes/models based on your experiences?  I don't need a commercial grade blower, but want something that's powerful enough and is built to last.

Thanks!

Here's a good video about dryers.
I like the leaf blower.

Do you have a leaf blower?

They work great if you already have one.

I have had my Metro Air Force Steel Commander Variable Speed Dog Dryer, 4.0 HP for close to 20 years and would highly recommend it.  Heated and filtered air with two speeds.  Fairly compact and easy to move around the car with.

Yes, it is a pet dryer but it works great and the dog doesn't mind sharing.

Leaf blowers will work if you have one already but they are hard to use inside the car or in tight places.  Plus I really like the heated and filtered air with a smaller nozzle that allows better control of the air flow.

Take a look at other pet dryers for cheaper alternatives.

Thanks guys!  I have a STIHL rechargeable leaf blower so I'll give that a try first!

Many shop vacs allow the hose to be switched to the exhaust side from the vacuum side, and they make a great, albeit unheated, source of air in a broad sense.
A simple and small shop compressor (the kind used for pneumatic tools) with a blower attachments works really well to get into tight spots.

My local detail shop in Michigan used this attachment on their air nozzle:

https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Thread-Single-Nozzle-Orange/dp/B078RMFN71/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1BO316QGU500V&keywords=air+compressor+nozzle+spreader&qid=1647696455&sprefix=air+compressor+nozzle+spreader%2Caps%2C54&sr=8-4

This made cleaning things like all the door gaskets quite a "breeze."  LOL.

I have one of these, and really like it. I used to use leaf blowers, this is better for me.

I have one of these, and really like it…this is better for me.

At $500 It sure as heck better be! 😱
Maybe I’ll wait for a $1,000 Miele! 😉

All kidding aside, the MetroVac products are made in the United States and are of exceedingly high quality. If you live near the coast they make one out of stainless steel. They have a large number of different items for different purposes.

When I did advertising management for three car clubs I tried very hard to get the MetroVac owner to do some advertising for his products in the Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Ferrari magazines without luck. That never changed the fact that they make some very good products.
