Interesting. All the tech data I've known here in Europe shows .08 and .18mm and that's what I've been using for 41 years.
Perhaps there's a difference in spec according to country?
I doubt that Daimler-Benz used different values depending on the car's destination/location.
The German "Tabellenbuch" from 1968 shows the same 0.20mm value.
The English version is most likely a direkt translation from that one.
My preference for entries into our technical manual is to use the manufacturer's data when they are available.
That doesn't mean, of course, you should change your procedures that you used successfully for 40+ years.
As Wallace pointed out only a few would be able to "feel" the difference.
