Rear Trunk Lock Wanted
« on: August 31, 2022, 23:49:50 »
I need a rear trunk lock for my 1964 230SL. Someone previously drilled out the old lock cylinder.  I’m in California.

Hi,

How much of the old lock assembly is still usable?

I have an early button/cylinder (as in this photo: https://www.sl113.org/wiki/ChassisBody/TrunkLock?action=download&upname=Trunklock6_300.jpg; you could use it as-is or extract the lock tumbler from it and put that in your own button shell.

(I also have the body, but it's not usable, and it has no L-shaped "pusher" as shown at the top of this photo: https://www.sl113.org/wiki/ChassisBody/TrunkLock?action=download&upname=Trunklock1_300.jpg).

FYI, the lock body has key code KN029 stamped on it, so I presume that would be the key you'd need for it (or you could have it re-keyed).
