What is the role of the governor?
« on: October 17, 2022, 02:08:24 »
What exactly is the role of the governor at the output of the automatic transmission? Anybody knows?
Thank you.

Please elaborate.  It's my understanding that "the output of the automatic transmission" would be the shaft that connects to the driveshaft via a flex disk.  I don't understand how that could be "governored"?

Todd, sorry I wasn’t clear. I meant that the governor is located downstream of the planetary gears on the output but still inside the transmission housing.
Thank you Wre for the link, I am getting it now. I will read the shop manual again, if I understand correctly the governor controls the stepped pressure.
