I am continuing a topic under a prior post of mine, just to have a more manageable length. Has anyone installed the Porsche TTS (92860510102) in their W113? What were the results? Was it a suitable exchange?

So on this TTS - you say id does work well? I included a photo below and it appears to have lugs on it for attaching the wires. Was the one you used that way, and if so how did you attach the wires?

So, I bought the Porsche TTS but I'm not sure it's working properly based on bench testing before install. I grounded the body of the switch to the battery, then attached an ohm meter between what would be the "W" terminal and the battery ground. I would have expected the "W" terminal to be continuous to the ground when the TTS is cold but it was nowhere close. I was then going to apply 12V to the "G" terminal and confirm that the ground was lost but I never got that far since the "W" terminal never showed a ground. Thoughts?

Not sure I follow.

W&G should have continuity when the sensor is at 35 deg C, no?

Hello, you're correct, W should read zero ohms to earth (-) when cold. G should read the resistance of the coil to earth. Perhaps put the unit in hot water and then test again, maybe the contacts need to open and close again, if it's been sitting on a shelf for a while

I've also seen that the 91161711700 is no longer available and some suppliers are supplying a replacement ...701, which has internal electronics, so may not test the same on a test meter, perhaps it needs the +ve connection before W grounds? just a thought, worth checking the part number you received

So it appears that the 701 cannot be tested similarly to the original TTS in that it does not indicate a continuity between the “W” terminal and ground when cold. I put it in the freezer to ensure it should be activating the CSV and IP solenoid, but it didn’t show continuity between W and ground. But - when I applied 12V to G, it did ground for about 9 seconds. So it was indeed working but not in the same manner the original TTS does. I am going to install, convinced that the 701 will work even though it is different than the original TTS.

I think updates like this should go into the technical manual, as technology changes, this will happen more and more in the future, and sometimes posts can be hard to find using a general search

I'd be happy to add it to the manual, but i wouldn't know where to start, and i'd be worried about making a mistake, and accidently changing stuff that's already there

i guess there are members who contribute to the manual all the time, but they can't be expected to capture every post, and important tips can easily be missed

As i say i'm happy to contribute if someone could point me in the right direction

Thanks. I had written a summary of how the TTS works, accompanied with the associated wiring diagram. My intent was to lay that out in perhaps a clearer explanation. I can certainly add this to that content and place it in the manual, if I have those privileges.

I've added the comments regarding the latest TTS to the tech manual. I'll have a look at Harry's description of the cold start circuit and add that as well
