Correct Window Crank Position
« on: June 20, 2005, 15:45:00 »
I was hoping that someone would be able to correctly identify the factory setting for the position of the window crank handles. If you know the correct position please indicate the position relative to a twelve hour clock face and wether the window would be either up or down.
Thanks,

Hello Ted,

Ooops, I also don't know for sure...[:0]
The beautiful factory-new-cars-prictures in the factory sales brochure leaflets should know.
I "believe" the driver's side crank was at about 5.00 o'clock and the passenger's then 7.00 - but I am not sure.

Will check the brochures the next time I see them (weekend).
Sorry ...

Hello Ted,

1.00 o'clock (whether AM or PM I can't tell)on the passenger side, window down.
Should be facing on the drivers side.

Arrgh, I cannot attach pics from the computer. Don't know what's wrong. Our site's window says: "You must be logged in to use this page

It does not work.
Damn...

Here is the link for the leaflet picture.

Hi,
Proper window crank position is simple- with the window in the full up position the handle should be in the 3 o`clock or 9 o`clock (depending on side of car) so that the weight of the handle is always trying to "close" the window. If you do not do this, the window will try to "open" under bumpy conditions.

It seems that Craig has used German sensibility to solve this riddle. 9 & 3 it is then.
Thank you,
