1966 Rear End Removal

Hello all.  I am about to embark on replacing the klunk bushing in the rear end and I’ve been reading through the BBB on how to do that.  I have a couple of related questions:
- Does anyone have a schematic and/or photo of the fixture used to brace the rear end so the axles remain horizontal?
- I have a lift that I would like to use but I’m a little concerned that with the rear end removed, the car will be nose heavy and prone to tip?

Sand bags (or kitty litter) in the trunk?  It's further back than the axle, so you don't need equivalent weight.  Not sure how much weight a non-rusty trunk should hold.

I've removed plenty of axles without worrying about weight distribution. These cars are heavy!

To stabilize the rear axle in a horizontal position, I made a tool out of a length of 1350mm square tubing (38x38mm) and drilled two 18mm holes, 1235mm from the middle of the holes apart.  Use the bottom shock absorber mounting, when the shock absorbers have been removed, to anchor the square tubing.

Thanks for the feedback.  And just to confirm before I pull the rear end, it does have to come out to do this properly - correct?  I'll look in the BBB to see what might be there as well.

And, does anyone have a drawing of the crown nut tool that is necessary to untighten/tighten the pinion nut?  Or even a tool that they would lend?

That’s what they look like. I made one myself out of a regular socket and a right angle grinder.
You can take the required dimensions from the nut itself. Mine is with a friend at the moment.
