My mechanic did a great job of fitting my drivers side glass to reduce wind noise at speed. Only problem is that I closed the door too hard and the glass shattered. Even more troubling, the replacement glass from Mercedes Classic does not fit. Here's how my local shop explained the problem, followed by their illustrative pic (on a different Pagoda).
"When installing the glass into the door and rolling it up, it leaves a gap on the forward side of the door where it meets the top of the door/convertible top. The gap, at the furthest forward part of the door is about a half inch and it tapers back towards the rear of the car for about 3 inches to where it sits flush. I attached a picture of a passenger side door glass with yellow indicating where the gap is."
The shop even ordered a second glass from Mercedes, and it fit the same way. The shop is wondering if the windshield post is out of alignment. But that wondering is as far as we've gotten.
Ideas?
ps. I should add that prior to all this I had the soft top and gasket replaced, in case that might be a factor. And, when the glass shattered, the soft top was up, not the hard top.
