It does have rust, and also the typical 'English rockers' (bodycolor rockers/sills). $50K starting bid seems very high for this very tired car?

BaT has the most uneducated auditorium I have ever seen. Prices for good stuff are just exorbitant and prices for crap are still higher than anyplace else. People who really know what they are looking at (there are a few) do not get involved in the bidding for two reasons: Good cars are being bid into the stratosphere by people who have money to throw around and get carried away by testosterone spurts and crap will cost more to rework than the car is worth after the process is finished. While the presentation is extensive and driving videos are standard, you are still bidding on a car on-line and unless you physically see and inspect it, it is not a smart thing to do. There are a few really problematic areas on any W113 that is in excess of 50 years old and they are never being addressed as far as I can see.

Just saw that the car didn't meet reserve and that the first $50K bid was the only one. Maybe you can work something out with the sole bidder, $50K did not seem all that unreasonable to me at least (not having seen or driven the car if course). Best of luck with selling.

I agree $50k seems more than fair when you take into consideration it's a California coupe that has paint/body damage, and interior issues. Seller engagement and better underneath photos on a lift would have helped this auction a lot! More and more I'm seeing new people to BaT list their car, and wonder why it flops and RNM. BaT will only get maximum money, if you're willing to put in maximum EFFORT. If you're not willing to do that, there are other venues which will be better suited.

$50k for a rusty California coupe...you should have taken the money and run.

Unless the bid to $50k was a shill bid...

$50k bid looks legit after taking a look at the account.
