Hiking Boots - The Best Hiking Footwear for Novice Hikers

Hiking is a good habit that not only improves physical health, it also enhances people's mental health through experiencing new things on every new journey. If you are a beginner, you definitely cannot neglect to buy yourself the most suitable hiking footwear at this moment to get a good start. And this post will recommend to you a type of hiking footwear that seems like most novice hikers will love: hiking boots.

❀❀❀ Read More: What are the best hiking boots

Hikers basically have four choices of footwear (including hiking shoes, hiking boots, backpacking boots, and mountaineering boots) that they can choose based on the type of terrain they normally pass through, the length of the itineraries, and the weather conditions. However, if your upcoming trek is your first time, you should opt for hiking boots for the following reasons:

1. Ankle support

Injuries are one of the most important issues that a novice hiker like you need to pay special attention to as you don't have the same ankle protection experience as the proficient. Therefore, all you need is a boot with an over ankle cut that can safeguard your feet from everything that can hurt you along the way like small rocks, insects, etc.

This feature is rarely available in hiking shoes as their cuts are usually under the ankle which makes their shape compact for easily backpacking. But because you are a newbie when it comes to hiking, your feet and ankles will probably not be as strong and sturdy as longtime hikers, so you need some solid support from a good quality hiking boot.

2. Short break-in time

When compared to all the top backpacking boots and best mountain hiking boots, most of the best-rated hiking boots have a much shorter break-in time, suitable for novices who aren't knowledgeable about this issue.

Because you are a newbie, you need a stronger pair of boots than a regular pair of shoes that don’t need break-in time. The break-in period is important as your feet will perfectly fit in the new boots, then it will bring you the most comfortable feeling even you hike for a long day.

But why not other types of boots but hiking boots? This is because you are a beginner, you probably will not choose the roads that are too complicated and difficult to hike as your first destination, so stiffer boots that can challenge any terrain and required longer break-in time is not necessary.

3. Warm

Nowadays, almost the best hiking boots in the world can work as winter boots that are able to keep your feet warm and strong for long-distance trips. The cushioning of hiking boots is typically thicker than that of conventional shoes, you will not only feel warm but comfortable also.

4. Lightweight than other types of a hiking boot

Although they are not comparable to hiking shoes that are super lightweight to pack, hiking boots are typically much lighter than backpacking boots and mountaineering boots. Because hiking boots don’t need as stiff as other boots, it helps to reduce the burden on every step for hiking beginners like you.

If you have lightweight hiking boots on your first journey, I bet you will have a memorable time.

5. Longer durability than hiking shoes

The very first pair of footwear that kicks off your hiking can't get damaged too quickly. That’s why high-end hiking boots with longer durability in comparison with normal hiking shoes should be your first choice. As you know you should not have backpacking boots or mountaineering boots for several reasons above, your remaining puzzlement is probably the price. Then, you should try the Best Rated Hiking Boots Brands’ products, although the price is about twice as much as a regular pair of boots, they will have good durability and give a great experience for you.

A good start will bring good fortune to a long journey in the future, and the most comfortable hiking boots that most suit you will take you as far as possible to all parts of the world.

There are usually two sources for the Clunk.

One is the Trunk mounted differential support - if metal to metal - it sometimes clunks.  Not a difficult job.

The other is a tubular bushing on the differential — it’s roughly 20cm long  and about 6cm diameter (metal & rubber) — I still have not replaced this one as from everything I read - the differential may need to come out — this is a big job for my capabilities and waiting until I am really ready.

Rear axle has to removed so it can be worked on. I would go through the entire axle while it's out.
