Squared off Chrome Exhaust Tips

I recall a discussion about squared off muffler tips no longer being available.  Would these fit?  Just not sure if the dimensions are correct.

You can most certainly make the Porsche tips fit. Here are the ones off of my 280SL. They are 45mm dia, just a tad longer at 170mm and have a cut-out at the end.

No, I think Mike is showing a pair of his W113 original squared tips.  Showing they have the cut outs and they are 5mm longer than the Porsche tips.  I only posted the link because I thought this might be a source of squared exhaust tips since it appears ours are NLA.  Diameter is the same, just shorter by 5mm.

I obsess over originality. I let this one go, and have lowly "rounded" tips, as at the time, there was not really any other options that I knew of.

Nice Find Marcus! I was at a car show once and saw a 113 with one square and one round tip. He and everybody else at the show knew nothing about it. It caught my eye having never see a square one in person. It has been so long since the rounded tips have been produced, most have no clue. Anybody know when and why they switched ends? I figure it was due to reducing manufacturing cost. Not exactly sure how the end is formed, but the rounded version has to be easier and less costly.

i've spoken to several exhaust manufacturers and fabricators in the UK and no one is particularly interested in making these for such a small demand

I sent this company a picture of the original MB square ended tips and they sent me some more pictures of their ones, they say they look almost identical.  They look slightly more rounded to me, but they say that they're quite a square profile.  They're expecting some more in shortly

I know there were a few members interested a few years ago when this subject was last discussed.  i may order a pair and report further when i receive them

Fondly remembering our old friend Fernando Castanheira, a/k/a Hauser who passed away last year. One of the last major projects he undertook was having these exhaust tips with the square edge custom fabricated for his car. His fabricator was going to try and offer a deal...but I think the whole thing passed when Hauser did.

I have purchased one of these tips to compare against 1 original that I have and I can say that it is to the naked eye the same, I don't think being shorter matters much you can't see that when on the car

Are they the same diameter exactly? If so I may see if they are getting more in stock.

If they are 45mm, they are the exact diameter as the ones I have.

Have you guys ever seen this style?  The bottom is cut and pushed into the tube, attempting to direct all the exhaust down.  They were on my car when purchased in 2000.
