DC Area Pagoda Newbie...

W113'ers -

Hopefully I've found the right support group here..  I think so.

My name is Reed, and I've just purchased a silver/blue 1969 280SL automatic.  Nice, unmolested car.  I'm really looking forward to learning about the car, and the 280SL community, so long as the car makes it back to VA when I go pick it up in about three weeks.  I have no doubts....

Prior to this car, I was running The Train Wreck - a 300SEL 6.3 that needed a little of just about everything.  Any of you guys who know your M-100's know that, as much as Mercedes parts cost, parts for the M-100's are at least double!!  Besides, I don't have the time, inclination, or money to get head-deep into restoring a big old sedan, even if it does go like stink!  Moreover, the top didn't go down.  Happily, that car is currently being loaded into a container and heading off to Abu Dhabi.  Seriously.

Anyway, that's about it!  See you around the 'net.

Welcome Reed,

You're lucky, we have quite a few active members of this group from the DC area.

I think you'll find this group tremendously valuable, I know I have.

I look forward to seeing you around town!

Thanks!  I know there are a lot of very nice ones around that I have seen at local shows.  I'm pretty psyched.

Were you at the Sully show a couple of weeks ago?

Nice car, I have the same color with a red interior.  Where did you buy the car from?  It looks sharp.

Nope - I don't even have the car up here yet.  Will be bringing it back to DC in about 3 weeks.  Is right now having an oil change, fuel, filter, and chassis lube prior to making the 10+/- hour drive from Atlanta to DC.

Good luck on the trip.  Hopefully you won't hit much traffic .. if so keep a close eye on that temperature needle.

Reed,

Welcome. You're fortunate to live in a place where there's a very active bunch of enthusiasts. For some reason, Northern VA seems to attract more than its share of W 113 owners. And, of course, you're also in the world's biggest neighborhood here on the Net. We're all happy to see a new owner here and are happy to help in the future with questions and advice, even the unsolicited variety!

Hello Reed/Hitch102

Welcome to the group.  You'll find much of any help you need right here.

Hey guys--do we tell him to be careful about using the term "unmolested" :D   Last time that happened we all got into a tizzy, and we have not heard from Neal in Australia in quite some time!

..or "sympathetically maintained in as original condition as possible over time!"

Welcome to the group.  Looks like the D.C. area is gaining another nice Pagoda!

Reed,

Welcome to the group.  The Washington area Pagoda crowd gets together once or twice each year.  I will let you know when the next event is organized.

Best,

Tom
