Acellerator Pedal Exterder?
« on: August 31, 2023, 14:13:04 »
My '65 230SL arrived in May all the way from WA to ME. My husband has no trouble driving, but I'm shorter and depressing the pedal for any length of time is a strain. Has anyone heard of a Pedal Extender? It was mentioned on the M-B website (with photo), but no other information. Looking for advice, so I can get my turn driving!

Also, here’s the link & photo (scroll down to view extender) from the Mercedes-Benz site, but I cannot find any more about it.

To those who kindly replied earlier, the seat is fully forward - thanks for your thoughts.

Welcome Pamela (I assume!).
I have not heard of a pedal extender before. Is it possible that the seat track is somehow obstructed, and is not allowing the seat to slide all the way forward?
I suppose it would not be all that difficult to have someone fabricate an extender of some sort. They may even be available as a 'generic' item on-line, not sure.

If the bolts holding the tracks of the seats to the frame are not completely screwed down, they can interfere with the seat moving fore/aft.  When working correctly, the seat moves extremely close to all the pedals.

Yes Len is correct. Bolts could be sitting up. Have someone, who is thin, with a 10 mm Gearwench take a look under you driver seat to see if bolts are fully down.

Depending on the distance involved and results of safety testing it occurs to me that designing and making a gizmo which might clip onto the standard pedal would be a nice little project. And in the same way that your husband puts down the toilet seat after use he would also replace the extender after each drive.
