The head is off my 1971 w113, and it was discovered that when the car was parked for over 21 years, it had a blown head gasket on cylinders 2 and 4. This led to significant corrosion, requiring a replacement of the head. We are having difficulties with what I believe are referred to as the “cam follower/ball stud assembly”, which works with the valve lifters. I am trying to replace them, but am having difficulty locating the proper part number, let alone the ball studs themselves. The closest I have found so far is part # 1300500574, which appears to work with the 108 chassis, but suggests that it is not useable for the 280SL. Do any of you have any experience with this, and can you point me in the right direction? Thank you!
