Unusual cylinder head number
«
on:

Sorting through my stock I find I have an engine with a cylinder head 1300161401.
I can't find any reference to this number on EPC, google, our tech manual or the forum.
Does anyone have any info on it?

Stick: the list in our Tech manual is not complete. I have a head on my 71 280SL that is not included and I have tried for some time to find info on it, but our "experts are quiet.
My head is IDed 280SEL/SL and the casting number is 130 016 17 01.

Mike is there a date (eg."70") cast into the top surface of your head? As I recall, it is the oval style head gasket that is correct for your head. So it should be a later version.

Joe, Yes. The head is original to my car, which is November 1970 built.
