Euro Headlights

Do any of you know whether the misc parts of the euro headlight assembly are avialable separately, new?

I already have new rings, and recently purchased a replacement bubble lens ( :?  :(  flying freeway rock) before disassembling, and I see now my gaskets and reflectors are in pretty bad shape.  My CD only shows the main reflector separate.

I read Bob Geco advised a couple of months ago not to pay more than about $300 per assembly from ebay, any idea what these assemblies cost new? (I've a local source for a pair at $350 each but don't know the condition)

(hey, its saturday and the suppliers are closed, & I'm impatient to get back on the road)

The seals are available from our usual suppliers (K&K, BenzBarn, SL Classics)... There are two different ones -- the headlamp cover seal which runs about 8 bucks each and the assembly seal which is more -- maybe 40 bucks a piece? I think reflectors are also available. Good time to change all the bulbs as well.

While you are in there , I recommend getting rid of the R2 tungstuns bilux .. you can now get H4 60/55 with the same R2 T45 base .. a simple drop in and the difference is night and day..
Narva 84448 will do
 They are cheap, too...

Adsit sells new euro headlights for $ 625.50 for the pair, not including the chrome trim.

It's getting more difficult to find the euro light parts seperately in the USA.  When I was shopping last year, Tom Hanson (very reliable MB dealer parts man) said MB wasn't shipping just the parts in anymore.  You shouldn't have a hard time finding a whole assembly, but you'll have to call around to find individual reflectors.  I ended up buying a slightly used set of reflectors from VanDijk in The Netherlands.  Shipping wasn't as much as I expected and they were easy to deal with (in English!) through e-mail.  I swapped them out in my housings and everything's great!

Hello,
All you Euro headlight specialists out there:
What is the best way to attach the lens to the frame without breaking the glass rim  ( :(  see picture) ? Do you put the clip over the glass rim first and then push/pull the other side of the clip over the rim on the frame, or is it better in reverse?

This is a tough job, I found it best to put the clip in first, then the glass, then compress (three-handed job) the seal by applying pressure on the very edge of the glass on either side of the clip, then pop the clip over the glass.  It took me an hour to do both sides, and the neighbors were wondering if I was delivering a baby.  Best of luck,

I use a pair of very robust pliers to pull each clip over the glass. Takes some strength. Once you get the hang of it, each clip takes no more than a few seconds.

No kidding, 'g'! Fortunately I had the old damaged glass to practice with. My final solution was to first hook the clip in place underneath and then pull it over the glass using a fishing line loop. That worked well and was quick, but only with the old gasket in  place.
With the new gasket (that was not deformed yet, see picture) I had to compress the assembly as you suggested. Since there was no 3rd hand around, I made a sandwich with 2 wood pieces, foam padding, and the headlight (without the reflector!) in the middle and compressed slowly with two carpenter clamps until the distance was short enough to pull the clips over the glass with the fishing line.

I use a 90 degree "pick".  I'm assuming that's what it's called, it's like a screw driver but just has a sharp point at the end.  This particular one is bent 90 degrees (they make a variety of shapes & sizes) and is good for pulling the clips.
