Paint in the engine bay

I've been doing some cleaning of areas under the engine bay and had decided to repaint the air filter housing (now that I've got a new hose) as well as the coolant overflow tank.

Have most of you used a semi-gloss black?

Satin black. Try either Krylon in a can or, better yet, Wurth. (And don't paint the clips on the filter housing. They're gold cad plate.)

If your goal is longevity, consider having it powder coated.  It isn't terribly expensive and provides a long lasting, correctly colored finish.  All of my "chassis black" components including the ones you mentioned, as well as all chassis components such as subframes, trailing arms, etc. have been done in satin black powder coat.

Thanks for the input on powder coating.   I've got a great source to have done locally and will share the results.   I hadn't really thought about it on these parts.
