Data Cards - Archived cards or stored data

Given all the information on the Data Cards. Are these cards stored or is the data pulled and then a card is created ?
If the information is free standing, then the ability to pull #'s of specific options on cars would be possible .
By this you would be able to pull :
Cars by color
Cars by Transmissions & Options etc.

Seems to me: stored as microfiche form or paper form somewhere deep down in dark chambers in filing cabinets of Daimler archives.

The data card copy I received years ago from Mercedes, when it was a free service, was not very clean. Like Pawel said, the original is probably an analog hardcopy and not digitized.

I would agree with Pawell as customers have typically been given an old, poor quality, photo copy looking document. If MB was generating cards out of a database, they would all look new.
