Points Retaining Ring
« on: February 05, 2024, 14:42:39 »
Hello all.  1966 230SL.  It appears that there is a small retaining ring that clips to the pin in the distributor that the points slide down over (holding the points down)?  Can someone tell me the specifics of that retaining ring size?

Thanks!
Harry

Most of the distributors I've rebuilt never had a clip or retainer on the shaft. I wouldn't worry too much about it as the points will not move or slide up once installed.

Thanks Benz Dr.  I agree but just thought it might be beneficial to have - although it's also a bit scary to consider dropping that little thing down into the distributor!
